What is Canonical URL?
Canonical URL: The preferred URL for a page when the same or very similar content is available at several addresses, declared with a rel="canonical" tag.
Canonical tags consolidate ranking signals onto one URL and prevent duplicate content problems, for example when a page is reachable with and without tracking parameters. Every page should point a canonical at its own preferred URL (a self-referencing canonical).
