What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): Optimizing your brand and content so AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Copilot mention, cite, and recommend you in their answers.
Generative engines write answers instead of listing links. GEO focuses on being part of those answers. That involves consistent brand information across the web, content with clear, quotable answers, structured data, allowing AI crawlers to read your site, and earning mentions on the third-party sources AI systems trust.
GEO overlaps heavily with SEO, but the goal is different: SEO wins a position in a list, GEO wins a mention (and ideally a citation link) inside a written answer.
